Aussie Millions Main Event

The Aussie Millions has grown to become one of the top poker tournaments in the world with competitors coming from around the world for the biggest poker tournament, and pay day, in the southern hemisphere!

In 1998 the Australian Millions was born at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia. The event featured a $1,000 buy in and drew a whopping 74 entries to create a prize pool of $74,000. This amount pails in comparison to where the World Series of Poker was at at this time, with the winner of the 1998 WSOP Main event in taking home $1 million dollars alone.

However, Crown Poker did not loose interest in the Aussie Millions and kept plugging away to grow the tournament. By 2006, Crown had managed to attract 418 players to its event and the entry fee had grown to the WSOP Main Event entry fee of $10,000. Players came from around the world to experience poker down under! The prize pool grew to over $5 million dollars and poker greats such as Daniel Negreanu, Joe Haschem (2006 WSOP Main Event Winner), Phil Helmuth and more had come to try to win the big one in the outback.

Crown Poker also made gaining entry to the Aussie Millions as easy as possible, even for those who can not afford the full $10,000 entry fee. Satellite poker tournaments are carried out at online poker rooms and live at the Crown Casino before the main event takes place. This gives players the chance to qualify for a fraction of the $10k entry fee.

The Aussie Millions is during January of every year and runs until the middle of January. In addition to the No Limit Hold'em Main Event, the Aussie Millions also sports additional events such as additional no limit hold'em tournaments, heads up championships, limit hold'em tournaments, omaha hi/lo tournaments and multiple satellite tournaments.
